A sunny spot
The village of San Paolo in Appiano on the Alto Adige Wine Road
Our home village San Paolo lies on a sunny hillside in southern South Tyrol, in the so-called Oltradige. We’re just a few kilometres away from the provincial capital Bolzano and the spa town Merano, while enjoying Mediterranean countryside charm and alpine idyll.
Close to nature
San Paolo is very close to the Monticolo Lake and Lake Caldaro, the warmest bathing lake in the Alps. The village is surrounded by vineyards and criss-crossed by picturesque gardens. To the front, you can enjoy a view towards Bolzano, the Val d'Adige, and the Dolomites. Behind rise the slopes of the Mendel Mountains.
Rich in history
The village is known for its imposing church, the “Cathedral in the Countryside.” It blends Gothic, Baroque, and Renaissance elements. But you’ll also find many other historical buildings here, with winding alleys, castles, and old manorial residences. Highlights every year include the WeinKulturWochen and the Paulsner Dorffest.
