Ötzi, the Iceman
Visit one of the oldest natural mummies in the world
In 1991, a remarkably well-preserved glacier mummy, over 5,000 years old, was discovered in the upper Val Senales near the Austrian border. This man from the late Neolithic period, known as Ötzi, has been exhibited since 1998 at the Archaeological Museum in Bolzano. His original clothing and equipment, including fur garments, shoes, a perfectly preserved copper axe, a bow with 14 arrows, a flint dagger, a wooden backpack, birch bark containers, and a belt pouch with small tools, are displayed.
Ötzi's story continues to captivate both researchers and the public, with new details about his life, origins, and death constantly emerging. Be prepared to be amazed!
